Entrepreneurship Is A Good Career Choice, Says Retired Officer

Sixty-six percent of adults see entrepreneurship as a good career choice, and more than half of the world’s working-age population feels they have the ability to start a business.

Bockarie Sama Banya, 40, isn’t just an aspiring entrepreneur; he’s actively building a business.

Banya is the portrait of man who has defended Sierra Leonean interests at home. A retired
Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) officer, who saw combat during the nation's long and brutal war, he went on to work in the military and security sector in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia, and Sudan.

A couple of years ago, Banya decided he wanted a change of career direction as he and his wife raised their young family.

Recently, he relocated to Western Europe and enrolled in a master’s program in entrepreneurship at International Management University, SRH Hochschule in Berlin, Germany, to learn more about innovation, supply chains, and efficiency.

Six months later,  Banya founded his first company in the health industry.

The Poacher Health is a network marketing business focused on the sale of coffee and tea. Poacher Health Organo, owned by global Entrepreneur, is an extension of parent company Organo.

Organo™ is a global network marketing company on a mission to spread knowledge of Ganoderma to the world, Banya said.

“The company’s vision is to help people improve their lives by reaching new levels of wellness, prosperity and balance, through the products,” he added.

The company boasts gourmet beverages, nutraceuticals and personal care products. These products are designed to suit any lifestyle, and are enhanced with herbal remedies that have been widely used for hundreds of years.

“What makes Organo beverages unique is the presence of Ganoderma Lucidum, a herb that has the ability to help improve the body’s healing capacity and longevity, with a number of natural health,” Banya said.

Banya is also developing a platform to connect entrepreneurs and innovators, ideas, products, services, and investors with their counterparts from across the globe.

“The concept is being tested on Facebook and other social media platforms with a traction rate of more than 2000 in a month,” he said.

Bockarie Sama Banya holds a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems from the University of Sierra Leone and an M.B.A. in Management Consultancy from the University of Wales.
